Lady Jaye Breyer P-Orridge (aka Miss Jackie) 1969-2007

Message from Throbbing Gristle

It is with deep shock, sadness, & empathy that fellow members of TG - Peter Christopherson, Cosey Fanni Tutti and Chris Carter learned of the passing of Lady Jaye Breyer Porridge after a heart attack, arising from a previously undiagnosed medical condition.

In recent years Jaye - also known as Miss Jackie - was a tremendous support to Genesis, as well as the muse and inspiration for much of the striking and original work Genesis was pioneering in the World & Art of Pandrogeny. From what we understand, she was also skilled and charismatic performer in PTV3 and, we are sure, a loving and devoted partner in Life.

Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to Genesis, and indeed, to all who loved Jaye, in this most difficult of times.

As many people have experienced the unexpected death of a partner can be an awful, awful thing to have to go though, but really we are never separated from those we truly love.

We are sure that the time we are physically apart, though it sometimes may seem like many years in this world we presently inhabit, will suddenly become as insignificant as the blink of an eye, when finally we have the opportunity to meet and merge again in the 'Sea of Tranquility'.

It is too early to guess how this will impact on Genesis's future life or work, but we certainly wish her the best possible future, which unlikely as it may presently seem, can bring surprising new joys to share, new adventures and new paths to follow, if only in spirit, with one's partner.

We ask that rather than writing to Genesis or us directly, those wishing to contribute Condolences, or pleasant memories of Miss Jackie, do so at:

We can gratefully confirm that in circumstances like these, a few words of love and support, even - perhaps especially - from strangers, who loved, enjoyed, felt inspired, moved, or close to the Works of Genesis and Lady Jaye can be a huge, huge emotional help, which may in turn contribute in a small way to the continued flow of the unique, extraordinary vision and creativity of our treasured collaborator & enduring friend, for the best part of the last 40 years, Genesis P-Orridge.

Lady Jaye can be heard reciting the spooky spoken word piece ‘Mother Jack’ on Psychic TV’s Trip Reset album. She was also involved in PTV3’s latest CD Hell Is Invisible… Heaven Is Her/e, and played in PTV3’s live shows. Lady Jaye and Genesis were in the midst of an ongoing life-art project intended to make them look more alike through matching breast implants, haircuts, and other body modifications. The aim was to merge their identities into a single ‘pandrogynous’ being, named Breyer P-Orridge.

I last saw the radiant, bouncy and beautiful Miss Jackie having a fag alone squatting out front of the ICA on Jun 3rd after the long weekend of TG recording sessions. I stood there next to her with an overwhelming urge to introduce myself but didn't want come across as being sycophantic in any way and left her alone. Fear eats the soul! Like minded people should have more courage. I regretted doing that then and very much so now. Rest at ease sweetheart and may peace come to Gen and those close to her.
